Pie charts

What is it?

A pie chart is a diagram which shows how a whole problem, measure or item is divided between its various components and the propotion represented by each component.

When to use it

  • Gathering data
  • Analysing data
  • implementing and testing solutions

What does it achieve?

A pie chart is used to get a quick visual impact of the way the pie, or whole item, is sliced or divided between its components. It is a useful method of display, but for clarity it should not generally exceed five components.
